What is coding?

Computers speak their own language: binary code. It is made of strings of 0s and 1s. We use it to write instructions that tell a computer what to do. A set of instructions is called a program.

This says "Hi" in binary code!

Coding means writing a program that tells a computer what to do. Laptops, phones and tablets need programs to work, and so do everyday things like washing machines and traffic lights.

Write a program

A robot starts in the bottom-left square 🤖 and must reach the apple 🍎. Each instruction moves it a number of squares. The order matters!
