How do I keep safe online?
If someone you don't know writes to you on social media or sends you a message and you feel unsafe, turn off the device straight away and tell an adult. These are the basic safety rules:
Hackers try to steal passwords to get your personal information. Use a strong password, change it often and don't use the same one for everything.
Fake emails that look real, often using famous brands. There is usually a small mistake you can spot. Don't open emails you don't expect.
Look for a padlock symbol at the left of the address bar. It means the website is secure.
Never share your address, your school, your full name or your phone number. Set your profiles to private and use websites your guardian or teacher recommends.
Strong or weak password?
If something has to be paid for with a card, always ask your guardian. They will check that the website is safe.
