Where is the water?

✦ Lesson 5

Where is the water?

Some landforms have water all around them. Others are almost, but not completely, surrounded by water.

🏝️ Island

Land with water on all sides. Some islands are the tops of mountains, volcanoes or hills whose sides are under the sea. An island made by a volcano is a volcanic island.

🏝️🏝️ Archipelago

A group of islands close to each other. The Hawaiian Islands are the peaks of underwater mountains.

🦶 Peninsula

Land with water on three sides. Spain and Portugal form the Iberian Peninsula.

🇪🇸 Spain's islands

Spain has two archipelagos: the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The Canary Islands are volcanic islands!
