Unhealthy habits: junk food and screens
Having healthy habits is important, but avoiding unhealthy habits is just as important.
Junk food
Fast food, fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets and chocolate are junk food. They are fine from time to time, but not every day. They have a lot of sugar, salt and bad fats, which are bad for the heart and can cause obesity and diabetes.
The word diet can also mean special food choices: some people follow one for medical reasons. But your weight does not decide if you are healthy or happy. Everybody is unique: accept yourself and others just the way they are.
Screens and staying up late
Our eyes need rest too, so we should limit the time we spend looking at screens. Using a screen just before bed:
The light tells your brain it is still daytime.
Exciting games and videos keep your mind busy.
If you stay up late, you cannot concentrate at school.
A couch potato is someone who spends all day sitting on the sofa. Don't be a couch potato: get up and move!
